New to packrafting? Our introductory course will teach you everything you need to know to safely get on the water on your own, as well as the basics of planning fun adventures. The day will be begin with a classroom session introducing you to the wonderful world of packrafting. Next, we will have a flatwater session on Blue Mesa Reservoir where we will learn paddling techniques, self and assisted recovery techniques, and some other nuances of the watercraft. After a lunch, we will set shuttle and float down one of two sections on the Gunnison River as we discuss hands-on topics. If you have your own packraft, you are encouraged to bring it to familiarize yourself with your own boat. If you don’t have one, we are happy to rent one for the day (limited quantities of packrafts for rent).
